Nigerian advises Allen Onyema on how to win price war against international airlines

Amid the ongoing price war between other airlines and Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, a well-meaning Nigerian has advised the Air Peace boss on how to win and overcome the hurdle.

Charles Kene Ojukwu, a social media influencer, advised Onyema and Air Peace to stop complaining and rather make use of their “competitive advantage.”

His remark comes on the heels of complaints by Onyema following the reduction of the prices of air tickets by airlines flying the Lagos to London route.

Following the reduction in the price of the air ticket for the Lagos-London flight by Onyema, other airlines reduced their fares too, such as Ethiopian Airlines, which reduced theirs from N1.9 million to N680,000.

Reacting to the ongoing price war, Ojukwu, in a statement on Facebook, advised Onyema to link “domestic routes from Anambra, Enugu, Asaba, Owerri, Akwaibom, Benin, Kano, etc. on a single joint ticket, fly them from their usual local spots first to Lagos, facilitate their seamless transfer to the international terminal, and fly them to London.”

    • Allen Onyema is naive, he talks too much – Reno Omokri

He added, “That way, I can stay in Anambra airport, check in my bag till my final destination, and get to London without needing to worry about the hassles of Lagos airport because I am in your hands flying from Anambra to London on a combined domestic and international ticket.”

He argued that, since 90% of people using international flights do not live in Lagos, linking these flights would be an effective way to keep his airline afloat.

Ojukwu’s statement reads, “Air Peace, you have a competitive advantage; quit the complaints. You said you came to rescue Nigeria from being taken advantage of, right? Yes. Okay, kindly do this.

“Link your domestic routes from Anambra, Enugu, Asaba, Owerri, Akwaibom, Benin, Kano, etc. on a single joint ticket, fly them from their usual local spots first to Lagos, facilitate their seamless transfer to the international terminal, and fly them to London.

“That way, I can stay in Anambra airport, check in my bag until my final destination, and get to London without needing to worry about the hassles of Lagos airport because I am in your hands flying from Anambra to London on a combined domestic and international ticket.

“That is great value for money, and with a very sound loyalty scheme and club, one needn’t come to Lagos again before they can board you to London.

“We shall stick with you because you know the routes to our backyard and can lift us from there straight to London.

“You can agree that 90% of people coming to use the international terminals of Lagos airports don’t live in Lagos or Abuja.

“They first have to fly an independent domestic ticket to Lagos or Abuja; most people lodge for a night or so before buying a fresh ticket to fly abroad.

“Join these tickets together and handle their transfer from domestic to international terminals, and see the dynamics stay in your favor because you know the road.

“That way, the funds they spend on lodging and extra stress will gladly be given up as a token to get these tickets joined as one ticket.”
