Benue state Governor Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries ahead the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman of Benue State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Professor Mohammed Kabiru Isa on Friday announced Alia as the winner of the kinly contested primary election.
According to the announced results, Alia won by a huge margin over the other two contenders, Terwase Orbunde and Jeffrey Kuranun.
Isa declared that the incumbent governor won with 367,786 votes, defeating the other candidates, Jeffery Kuranun and Terwase Orbunde, who received 2,923 and 3,247 votes, respectively.
Alia, who was present during the announcement of the results, called on all party members to join hands with him.
He said, “We are all APC members, and we’re all working for the progress of the people of Benue State. I invite them to continue to join forces with me so that we can move the state forward from where we are today, once again, from grace to the full Spirit of God.
Alia also took the opportunity to thank people who voted for him, stating, “And to all those who were out there to do this franchise on me, I am very grateful to them.”
“And to the rest of the people in the state, I thank you for the continued support to this administration of ours. It is your government, and you are the government. And it is my hope that your support will continue to come so that, as I already pledged, progress comes in, development comes in, and human capacity comes in.
“With the outcome of the just-concluded state and national assemblies primary election as well as the governorship primaries, there is a clear indication that the governor had humiliated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
“The camp of the governor dominated all the primary elections,” he stated.
