The Federal Government has told Nigerians that the current administration never promised instant miracles to solve the nation’s challenges but rather a structural and deliberate path to sustainable development.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated this while representing President Bola Tinubu at the official inauguration of a newly constructed seven-kilometre access road and bridge bypassing the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Akpabio noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration is focused on implementing strategic policies that will deliver long-term progress rather than temporary fixes.
He emphasised that the government remains committed to improving the standard of living for all citizens through practical and sustainable infrastructure projects.
“When we came into office, we did not promise you miracles that would appear from thin air. We promised you structural, calculated, and deliberate progress,” Akpabio declared.
He added that the administration’s agenda is designed to transcend mere economic figures and bring tangible improvements to everyday life.
“We promise a Renewed Hope Agenda that will touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen, not just in economic statistics but also in the reality of their daily struggles.”
The Senate President described the road project, which links Bill Clinton Drive to the Tunga Madaki Settlement in the Aerotropolis District, as a practical demonstration of the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
He highlighted that the infrastructure would not only improve connectivity and ease movement around the airport corridor but also open up economic opportunities for communities that had remained isolated despite their proximity to the international aviation hub.
Akpabio also commended the indigenous communities for their patriotism in willingly surrendering their ancestral lands to facilitate the construction of the airport’s second runway, assuring them that the government would continue to prioritise their welfare and integrate them into the broader economic expansion of the Federal Capital Territory.
