    Current African Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, was welcomed back to Atalanta BC in style as he presented his award to the cheering fans at the Gewiss Stadium.

    Lookman, who won the coveted prize, showed the award to fans before the start of Atalanta’s Serie A match against Empoli on Sunday.

    Lookman was crowned the 2024 African Footballer of the Year in a historic event that confirmed his status as one of the best players in the world in the current calendar year.

    The announcement was made during a glittering ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrating the finest talents in African football.

    The Super Eagles of Nigeria forward shook off competition from South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Cote d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, and Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy to win the prize.

    The Atalanta forward had a sensational year, dazzling fans with his incredible skill, blistering pace, and clinical finishing.

    Lookman was instrumental in both his club’s success in Serie A and Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

    His standout performances, including crucial goals in the UEFA Europa League and consistent brilliance in domestic competitions, solidified his position as one of Africa’s brightest stars.

    The Atlanta forward played a pivotal role by scoring a goal to ensure Atlanta defeated Empoli 3-2 on Sunday.
