Oba Tajudeen Omotayo, who was abducted on Saturday in Imope, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State has regained his freedom from his abductors.
The monarch was reportedly freed on Tuesday night after his family allegedly paid ₦5.5m to secure his freedom.
The kidnappers had demanded ₦100 million ransom earlier this week.
The gunmen had abducted the community leader on Saturday while coming back from a meeting from Ijebu-Ode in his vehicle.
He was reportedly accosted at Oke -Eri area of Imope, pulled him out and took him away to an unknown destination, leaving his vehicle on the Ijebu – Ode – Oru – Ibadan road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the development but denied any ransom paid, saying that he has no knowledge of such.
