    COVID-19: Nigeria records 30 deaths, 459 cases within 24 hours

    The Nigeria Center for Disease Control has announced four hundred and fifty-nine, 459, new cases of COVID-19 and 30 deaths within the last 24 hours.

    Statistics from the NCDC indicated that Lagos has 185 of the new cases, Abia and Oyo recorded 38, Akwa Ibom and Cross River- 33, Osun-24, Ekiti-23, Benue-15, Kwara-14 and Kano 12 new cases.

    Delta and the FCT recorded 10 new cases, Edo-9, Kaduna-5, Ogun-3, Katsina, Nasarawa and Rivers recorded 2 cases, while Bayelsa recorded just one case.

    • COVID-19: NCDC records 93 deaths in 24 hours

    This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 195,511.

    184,529 treated cases have been discharged, while the death toll is now 2,552.

    The total number of active cases is now 8,430.

    Due to the increase in number of daily cases, the NCDC has inmproved efforts in its vaccination programme to ensure that a critical percentage of the country’s population gets vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.

    The Federal Government has notified the public to go for the first jab of the Moderna vaccine, as well as the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

    The general public is also strongly advised to adhere to safety guidelines regarding social distancing, wearing of facemasks and washing of hands.
