Chelsea have been charged by the English Football Association (FA) with two counts of failing to control their players in their 1-1 Premier League draw against Liverpool on Saturday.

Referee Anthony Taylor sent off Blues defender Reece James after a goal-line handball, which Taylor later confirmed from the VAR.

He then awarded a penalty to Liverpool after which former Chelsea winger, Mohammed Salah converted from the penalty spot, infuriating Chelsea players.

The Blues protested to the referee that the ball had deflected off the thigh of the England star onto his arm.

After the penalty was taken, the two sets of players came together in a huge disagreement shortly before half-time. Meanwhile, following the whistle for the half-time break, Chelsea players once again approached the referee to debate the decision.

As a result, The FA have now confirmed that Thomas Tuchel’s men have now been handed a charge for their part in the incident via a short statement.

It read: “Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday.

“It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half, and following the half-time whistle.
