    FLASH: Nigeria announces 381 new coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the single highest number of coronavirus cases in the country since the index case was recorded.

    The 381 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control on Thursday takes the total number of confirmed cases to 3526.

    There is encouragement in the fact that 67 patients were discharged on Thursday with four deaths recorded.

    Lagos, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported a staggering 183 cases, the highest in a single day.

    Also of note is that the Federal Capital Territory did not record any new case of the virus.

    “381 new cases of COVID-19; 183-Lagos, 55-Kano, 44-Jigawa, 19-Zamfara, 19-Bauchi, 11-Katsina, 9-Borno, 8-Kwara, 7-Kaduna, 6-Gombe, 5-Ogun, 4-Sokoto, 3-Oyo, 3-Rivers, 2-Niger, 1-Akwa Ibom, 1-Enugu and 1-Plateau.

    • Nigeria announces 195 new coronavirus cases

    NCDC said 3526 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 601 discharged and 107 deaths.

    Earlier on Thursday, Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi explained that Governor. Sanwo-Olu and his wife had consistently tested negative for COVID-19, following three consecutive tests conducted on them recently.

    Abayomi advised residents to continue to embrace the Mask-Up Lagos Initiative and observe all precautionary measures such as physical distancing, hand washing and other personal hygiene to contain the spread of the virus.

    “All directives on easing lockdown in Lagos State remain in force,” he said.

    Abayomi said that collective responsibility was required to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the state and Nigeria.
