    49 new coronavirus cases, two deaths

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 49 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria, taking the new total confirmed cases to 542.

    The centre for disease control also said the total number of discharged patients now stands at 166, with 19 deaths.

    “Forty-nine new cases of COVID-19 have been reported; 23 in Lagos 12 in FCT 10 in Kano 2 in Ogun 1 in Oyo 1 in Ekiti.

    “As at 10:40 pm 18th April there are 542 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 166 Deaths: 19″

    Nineteen states and the Federal Capital Territory have recorded one or more cases of coronavirus.

    • 51 new coronavirus cases, four deaths

    Lagos – the epicentre of the virus – now have 306 cases, more than half of the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria.

    The FCT has now recorded 81 cases, Kano- 37, Osun- 20, Oyo- 16, Edo- 15 and Ogun- 12.

    Other states are Kwara- 9, Katsina- 9, Bauchi- 6, Kaduna- 6, Akwa Ibom- 6, Delta- 4, Ekiti- 4, Ondo- 3, Enugu- 2, Rivers-2, Niger- 2, Benue- 1 and Anambra- 1.

    President Muhammadu Buhari on 13 April extended the lockdown on Lagos, Ogun and FCT by another two weeks to help Nigeria contain the spread of the virus.
