    Mpape: Armed robbers trapped in First Bank Abuja

    An armed robbery operation ongoing at First Bank in the Mpape area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital has gone wrong after the armed robbers found themselves stuck in the bank.

    Eyewitness account disclosed that the bank has been surrounded by policemen and soldiers.

    The robbers who stormed the bank, just before noon, are trapped inside.

    Four of the robbers reportedly arrested and one killed during an exchange of gunfire with the police.

    First Bank has since reacted to the attempted robbery. A statement signed by Folake Ani-Mumuney Group Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications read, “We wish to inform everyone that the attempted robbery incident that happened at one of our branches in Abuja has been foiled; customers and staff are unhurt; and the suspects have been apprehended.

    “The immediate response by the police and military is very commendable and we truly appreciate them for their doggedness and commitment.”
