    Police parade over 30 suspected criminals in Yobe

    Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday paraded over 30 suspects arrested in connection with various criminal offences across the state.

    Among the paraded suspects was one Tasiu Abdulkareem who was arrested in connection with the murder of a four-year-old Al-Amin Ibrahim Baba whose body was found in a soakaway in Potiskum town recently.

    Parading the suspects, on behalf of the command at the State Criminal Investigative Department (CID) headquarters in Damaturu, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdulmalik Abdulhafeez said the suspected criminals were apprehended for various crimes such as kidnapping, rape, armed robbery, fraud as well as unnatural activities, among others.

    While giving the breakdown of the offences, ASP Abdulhafeez noted that, 1 suspect was arrested in connection with kidnapping, 7 for fake recruitment, 2 armed robberies, 2 fraud, and 17 were arrested for rape, sodomy and other unnatural activities, among others.

    “Routine assessment of the command reveals that the increase in rate of rape cases within and around the state is alarming.

    “Thus, the Yobe State Police Command is calling on all relevant stakeholders not to relent in helping the police in order to bring the perpetrators of this act to justice which will serve as deterrent to others”, the PPRO appealed.

    He equally on behalf of the command solicited the usual cooperation of the good and law-abiding citizens of the state to continue giving reliable information to the police as this will enable the command to serve them better.

    “The command assures you that every information given will be treated with utmost confidentiality”, ASP Abdulhafeez assured.

    He also stated that all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation while stressing the command’s unrelenting effort in ensuring the enforcement of law and other, safety of lives and property in the state.
