    BREAKING: Buhari defeats Atiku with 3.9 million votes

    President Muhammadu Buhari garnered over 15 million votes
    President Muhammadu Buhari garnered over 15 million votes

    Incumbent Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has garnered over 15 million votes to defeat his main challenger Atiku Abubakar.

    Buhari who sought re-election alongside Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on the platform of the All Progressives Congress won in 19 of 36 states in Nigeria while Mr. Abubakar won in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Mr. Buhari got a total of 15, 191, 847 million votes to Mr. Abubakar’s 11, 262, 978. The difference is 3, 928, 869 million votes.

    Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission is yet to formally declare Mr. Buhari the winner of the election.

    On social media, Nigerians have called on Mr. Abubakar to call President Buhari and congratulate him.
