Senator Solomon Adeola has praised the efforts of transparency platform, Tracka, for its continuous education and advocacy across the country.

The senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District explained that Tracka’s efforts at sensitizing Nigerians especially those in the rural communities have helped shed more light on how monies for constituency projects are channeled.

Reacting to Tracka’s ongoing advocacy programme, the senator said, “
Thank you Tracka for your educative and advocacy efforts. When the issue of ZIP (Zonal Intervention Projects) was raised some people believed Legislators are given money for projects,” he tweeted.

Senator Adeola then cautioned his colleagues against taking the shine for constituency projects, noting that, lawmakers should not be using the word donated for projects included in the budget.

“Henceforth I will direct use of such words as “facilitated” as more reflective of the used of tax payer’s money. Thank you for the advocacy,” he wrote.

Tracka had early on urged the senator to stop using constituency projects as a popularity tool.

On it official Twitter page, Tracka wrote, “Stop tagging supply of empowerment materials in your name for personal glory and political clout; citizens should be aware of the actual sponsor of the projects Taxpayers projects should not be labelled as a donation.”

The senator has since agreed with Tracka that citizens should be made aware that they are projects funded by taxpayers.
