Nigerians have continued to react to the sack of the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Lawal Daura, by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) on Tuesday.

This comes after the DSS and men of the Nigerian Police Force had laid siege on the National Assembly on Tuesday, even as the Senate leadership had scheduled a meeting to hold in the chambers in the afternoon.

Lawmakers who came with the hope of attending the meeting were denied entry into the Assembly by the security operatives.

In a social media storm that followed, Nigerians heaved a sigh of relief as the Acting President took swift action.

In a statement by Mr. Laolu Akande, spokesperson to the acting President, he described the NASS siege as “a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order.”

According to him, the unlawful act which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable and completely unacceptable.

Below are some reactions from Nigerians on Twitter: @babadidi305: “Put ego aside and give Osinbajo the accolades he deserves.”

‏@Anietieee: “VP Osinbajo deserves some accolades for directing the sack of the DSS boss, there are more to go though.”

@marvyd tweeted, “Now this is democracy and a president in making…All hail @ProfOsinbajo ..my future president.”

@ibrominx: “Finally someone is positively sticking his head out against democratic wrongs.”

@johnozovehe: “Whoever instructed that invasion should be identified and prosecuted. That is when we can truly say the Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has done great.

@YinkaTinuade: “Bold move! Democracy must be preserved.”

@BabajideEwuoso: “Today you @ProfOsinbajo have FINALLY made me proud of sharing a common Ikenne ancestry origin with you.”

@MNlerum: “That is the way to go….nobody can undermine the position of the Acting President. Well done Prof. Y.O. SAN.”

@LeonardAEsere: “I want to say that the Acting President has done a great job.”

@Zullyabu1: “Baba is aware of all this; Osinbsjo must have consulted Baba before doing this. Those of you who condemned Buhari this morning, shame is on you.”

@GordonMuero: “Thank you Vice President @ProfOsinbajo (SAN), for getting rid of one of the biggest threats to our democracy. Daura like many others was a product of nepotism.”

@BoyturnedKing1: “Just a reminder that he just did what you all thought he wouldn’t. Keep up. All hail Osinbajo. All hail my VP. All hail Nigeria.”

On Facebook, Emeka Umejei said, “This Osinbajo man has guts.”

Yemi Osinbajo for President. Now that’s presidential! ????????
