Aisha Alhassan popularly known as Mama Taraba says she has not resigned as Women Minister

Nigeria’s Women Affairs minister, Aisha Alhassan, has dismissed media reports that she has resigned from her position.

Alhassan also referred to as Mama Taraba said the leaked letter in circulation in the social media does not in anyway mean resignation.

In a statement by Suleiman Dantsoho, SA Media to Alhassan, he urged men and women of Taraba state to ignore the resignation reports.

“Senator Aisha Alhassan has not resigned her position as Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development and member of the Federal Executive Council,” the statement said.

“Contrary to some insinuations going round especially in the social media, the Hon Minister merely sought for permission of Mr President to begin consultations preparatory to her seeking nomination of our great party APC to contest for the office of Governor of Taraba state, which Mr President graciously accepted.

“The (leaked) letter in circulation in the social media does not in any way mean or refer to resignation. The letter from Mr President is straight forward and unambiguous.

“The general public, especially our esteemed supporters and loyal party men and women of Taraba state should please disregard any rumours of the Hon Minister’s resignation.

“When the time comes for her to resign, the Hon Minister would do so in accordance with the laid down procedure and regulations.

“For now, Sen Aisha is concentrating on the task given to her by Mr President as Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development and also helping in mobilising support for Mr President and the APC for the 2019 elections,” he said.
