Why Rotimi Amaechi, Nyesom Wike fell out – Okocha

Solomon Okocha, media aide to Andrew Uchendu, senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District has stated that power rotation triggered the rift between former governor of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi and incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike.

Reacting to a statement credited to Wike’s chief of staff, Okocha said, “For the sake of the good people of Rivers State, after reading a statement made by the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Chukwuemeka Woke, it is pertinent to categorically state here, that Governor Nyesom Wike has always been the person fighting against power rotation in Rivers State, and this was clearly shown in the initial rift between him and his predecessor, former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“The redundant Chief of Staff, would recall that the first disagreement between Amaechi and Wike was due to the fact that he (Wike) wanted the Ikwerre ethnic nationality to occupy both the Rivers State governorship seat and that of Rivers East Senatorial District, and this caused serious problems in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at that time.

Okocha pointed that Amaechi, being who he is, stood his ground for George Sekibo and ensured that he completed his two tenures, and after that was when he (Amaechi) and other leaders felt that power should move back to another ethnic nationality, for the sake of equity and fairness.

“Therefore, Woke should take his wailings back to his boss, Wike, who because of his inherent avarice and lust for power, used federal might and other unholy means to thwart the natural zoning arrangement of Rivers people during the 2015 general election.

“Governor Wike’s Chief of Staff, by saying that PDP would win all the elections in Emohua Local Government Area in 2019, like they did in 2015, must be making the miscalculation of his lifetime, because he is probably banking on the voodoo votes that were generated by his party during that visibly undemocratic contest; everybody knows that election did not hold according to law in Emohua or any other part of the state, during that dark era.

    Senator Andrew Uchendu

“Let it be known to Woke and his cohorts that after Senator Uchendu’s tenure, the All Progressives Congress, APC, will ensure that power definitely rotates back to another ethnic group in Rivers East Senatorial District, and that is the fundamental difference between our great party and the PDP.

“I find it most unfortunate and disrespectful, that Woke, could openly ask for the resignation of his benefactor, Senator Uchendu – a man whom God used to make him (Woke) all that he is today. One can therefore conclude that he has been infected with Wike’s politics of betrayal and ungratefulness.

“Finally, rather than casting aspersions on notable sons of Rivers State, Woke should hide his face in shame, as it is on record that he is the least influential Chief of Staff in the history of Rivers State.

“I strongly advise Woke to leave Senator Uchendu alone and face the servile politics being practised in his office which has reduced him into a mere houseboy,” Okocha said.
