Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the people of Northern Nigeria will repay President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s interventions in infrastructure, security, education and agriculture.
Sani made the declaration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally at Ranchers Stadium, Kaduna, where he commended Tinubu for what he described as progress in addressing challenges facing Kaduna State and the wider North.
The governor recalled Tinubu’s visit to Birnin Gwari during the 2022 presidential campaign, when the area was grappling with insecurity. He said the President had fulfilled promises relating to road construction and security.
Sani cited the ongoing reconstruction of the Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto road and reported improvements in security in Birnin Gwari as examples of the interventions.
He also highlighted the reopening of more than 300 schools and over 150 primary healthcare centres previously shut because of insecurity, citing efforts by his administration alongside federal interventions.
The governor further commended the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway, claiming that about 95 per cent of the project had been completed.
North-West students benefit from N250bn loans
On education, Sani said the North-West had benefited from about N250 billion in student loans, which he said had supported many students.
He also cited federal support for young people and artisans as part of efforts to improve livelihoods across the region.
According to the governor, the interventions provide reasons for Northern Nigerians to appreciate Tinubu’s leadership. He added that support for the President should be based on the administration’s record and the impact of its policies and projects rather than regional or political sentiment alone.
Sani warns APC against opposition campaigns
The Kaduna governor also cautioned the APC against underestimating opposition campaigns, saying political opponents had expanded their strategies beyond Facebook and X to include artificial intelligence.
He urged party members to remain vigilant against campaigns he described as lacking substantive ideas.
Sani assured Tinubu of continued support from the North, saying the region would judge the President by his record and the impact of his administration’s policies and projects.
Other speakers at the rally included Vice-President Kashim Shettima and the Director-General of the APC 2027 Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari.
