The death of veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has taken many aback; however, what is more shocking is his death after the demise of his son.
In August 2024, Duru shared an emotional social media post announcing the death of his youngest son, Ifeanyi. The loss was a painful experience for the actor and his family.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, Duru’s family announced his death, saying he passed away following a brief illness, two years after the demise of his son.
In a statement posted on his verified Instagram account, the family wrote, “We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness. We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
Also, the veteran actor’s anniversary post has resurfaced during the mourning period, after his family announced that he had passed away.
In the emotional message, Duru marked 23 years of marriage and thanked his wife for standing by him and helping to build their family. His words gave a glimpse of the appreciation he felt for the woman who shared more than two decades of his life.
While celebrating their anniversary, the actor thanked Adokiye for her patience, perseverance, and sacrifices for their family.
“It’s 23 years stuck together, glued together…looks like yesterday,” he wrote.
“Dox, thank you so much for making it so worthwhile…your tolerance, perseverance, and your endless sacrifice for the family… Father, in all, you remain our anchor…our strong tower,” he wrote.
He also expressed gratitude for their children and the life they had built together, thanking God for blessing him with a good wife and a great family.
The actor is survived by Adokiye and their three children. The family had earlier suffered the loss of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2024.
