Declan Rice grabbed a late equalizer as Arsenal and Bayern Munich produced an entertaining draw in the league phase of the Champions League in a match where Bukayo Saka limped off injured.
Saka went down after only 10 minutes with a suspected thigh problem, having tried to play a pass with no one near him.
Eberechi Eze came on for Saka and opened the scoring in the 35th minute, latching on to a superb pass from Martin Odegaard, with the video assistant referee having to step in after the England international was initially flagged offside.
Yet Bayern Munich trailed for only 10 minutes, as Harry Kane collected the ball in midfield and sliced open the Arsenal defence with a pinpoint pass for Alphonso Davies to finish.
Kane, who had delivered several eye-catching passes over the course of the match, then put Bayern ahead from the penalty spot.
The England captain’s strike hit Jurrien Timber’s hand inside the box, and Kane sent David Raya the wrong way from 12 yards to seemingly complete the turnaround.
Bayern piled the pressure on Arsenal in search of a third goal, but the Gunners held firm before Rice exchanged passes with substitute Viktor Gyokeres and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner to draw level.
The Gunners pushed for a winner, and Jurrien Timber forced Manuel Neuer into an acrobatic save before full-time.
