Barcelona captain Raphinha will be sidelined for the club’s next two matches due to a hamstring problem he sustained while on international duty with Brazil, coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Friday.
“The picture shows something, and it’s not a big injury,” Flick, who said that it nonetheless required attention, told reporters.
“We have to take care of this because he had a lot of injuries last season about this. I think three injuries.
“And we take care. So, he’s not available tomorrow (Saturday against Getafe in La Liga) and also not available in Istanbul against Galatasaray (on Tuesday in the Champions League).”
The German manager was enraged by the schedule forced upon the players, which led to the Brazilian picking up an injury during a friendly match in Australia.
Since the start of the season, Raphinha has been deployed as a center-forward at Barcelona, and he is now the leading scorer across Europe’s major leagues with 14 goals in eight matches in all competitions.
However, recurring muscle issues have troubled him throughout his career, and he came back injured from the March 2026 international break, during which he played against France in a friendly in Boston.
Barcelona felt the 29-year-old’s absence keenly during the closing stretch of the season, especially in the Champions League, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Atletico Madrid.
The Brazilian forward also picked up a hamstring injury while representing Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
The reigning two-time Spanish champions remain unbeaten in La Liga this season and are top of the table, five points clear of Atletico Madrid.
