A 34-year-old Nigerian is scheduled to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court in South Africa for allegedly trafficking drugs in Montclair, South Africa.
According to a post on the South African Police Service’s Facebook page, the suspect appeared in court on Monday after being arrested by officers of the Provincial Firearms and Drugs Unit.
According to the statement, the Nigerian was arrested in Montclair after reportedly being found in possession of cocaine powder with a street value of R30,000.
The statement added, “He was arrested in Montclair by members of the Provincial Firearms and Drugs Unit after he was found in possession of cocaine powder with an estimated street value of R30,000.
“The suspect was also found with R5,000 cash on him, which he could not properly account for.”
The statement stated that cash and suspected cocaine were seized during the investigation.
It concluded that the suspect is expected to face court for the drug-related allegations, as South African authorities continue to combat the distribution of illegal narcotics.
