Fire razed the AYM Shafa filling station in the Area 3 district of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The fire, which began about 10 p.m. on Thursday, was still raging at the time of reporting this story.

Although the reason for the outbreak was not immediately determined, firemen from the Federal Fire Service were on the scene battling the blaze.

Paul Abraham, the Federal Fire Service’s National Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that emergency responders had been dispatched to the location to contain the inferno and prevent it from spreading.

He stated that service professionals were working to contain the inferno and keep it from spreading to surrounding structures and facilities.

Abraham expressed sorrow for anyone affected by the incident and informed people that steps were being made to put the situation under control.

He said, “The Federal Fire Service empathizes with everyone affected by the ongoing fire incident at AYM Shafa Petrol Station, Area 3, Abuja. We understand the concern this situation may have caused to residents, motorists, business owners, and members of the public, and we assure everyone that their safety remains our highest priority.

“Our firefighters are currently on the ground, working tirelessly and professionally to confine the fire, prevent its spread, and bring the situation under control as quickly and safely as possible.”

Abraham called on members of the public to remain calm and avoid the scene to allow emergency responders to carry out their operations without interference.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to remain calm and avoid panic. We also urge residents and onlookers to stay away from the scene and allow emergency responders sufficient space to carry out their operations without obstruction.

“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion around the affected area and to cooperate with traffic management and other emergency agencies on the ground.

“The Federal Fire Service is doing everything within its operational capacity to manage the incident effectively. Further verified information will be communicated as more details become available,” he said.
