Former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has chaired a high-level meeting on unlocking diaspora capital for Africa’s transformation during the 2026 ECOSOCC Citizens’ Forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Osinbajo disclosed this in a statement following the session, which focused on the African-Diaspora Investment Corridor Initiative. The meeting was co-hosted by the Africa Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), INCLUDE Knowledge Platform, Future Perspectives, the African Union Citizens and Diaspora Organisations Directorate (CIDO) and Cleva.
According to Osinbajo, the initiative seeks to harness the financial resources, expertise and networks of Africans in the diaspora to drive sustainable development and investment across the continent.
“It was a pleasure to have chaired the meeting on Unlocking Diaspora Capital for Africa’s Transformation through the African-Diaspora Investment Corridor Initiative,” he said.
The former vice president also engaged with key stakeholders participating in the initiative, including Mr. Louis Cheick Sissoko, Presiding Officer of ECOSOCC; Ambassador Amr Aljowaily, Director of the Citizens and Diaspora Directorate at the African Union Commission; Mr. Hailu Kinfe of the African Institute of Remittances; Dr. Yeboah, WIDU Africa Advisory Board member and Board Chairman for Code for Afrika e.V.; Ms. Kim Poole, Representative of the African Diaspora and Executive Director of the Teaching Artist Institute; as well as Ms. Victoria Manya and Dr. Anika Altaf of the INCLUDE Knowledge Platform.
The meeting formed part of activities on the sidelines of the 2026 ECOSOCC Citizens’ Forum in Addis Ababa, where policymakers, development experts and diaspora representatives are exploring ways to strengthen investment partnerships for Africa’s economic transformation.
