Professor Ishaq Oloyede handed over his position as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to Professor Segun Aina on Friday, marking the end of his ten-year tenure.

Chronicle NG reported that President Bola Tinubu appointed Aina as the new Registrar of JAMB to succeed Oloyede.

The appointment was announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the presidency, Aina is a professor of computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, specializing in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional change.

The presidency highlighted that Aina has a bachelor’s degree in computer systems engineering from the University of Kent, a master’s degree in Internet computing and network security, and a PhD in digital signal processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He also finished the senior management program at Lagos Business School.

It further stated that the incoming registrar has over 15 years of expertise advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional changes, and system design.

Aina has also worked as a consultant for examination authorities such as the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, focusing on ICT systems and exam integrity.

The presidency described Aina as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of computer engineering and the youngest registrar in JAMB history. Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on Oloyede’s reforms and strengthen the examination body.
