Argentina captain Lionel Messi has surpassed Spain’s Lamine Yamal as the most successful dribbler at the 2017 FIFA World Cup.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner accomplished the feat during Argentina’s 2-1 comeback triumph over England in Wednesday’s semi-final.
Messi put on another outstanding display, completing nine successful dribbles and delivering two assists as goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez clinched Argentina’s spot in the World Cup final.
According to official FIFA World Cup statistics released on Wednesday, the 39-year-old now has 24 successful dribbles, surpassing Yamal’s total of 22.
Vinicius Junior of Brazil is third on the list, with 16 successful dribbles, followed by Germany’s Jamal Musiala and France’s Michael Olise, who both have 15.
