Davido, the Grammy-nominated singer, has opened up about plans to establish a mental health therapy centre for formerly popular and successful celebrities.
Speaking in a recent interview, the hitmaker cited the intense pressure of fame and the criticism faced by football icon Cristiano Ronaldo during the ongoing World Cup.
The 33-year-old Nigerian artiste expressed concern over the psychological toll of celebrity life, particularly the struggle to remain relevant after reaching the top.
“If there is one thing I could do, I would build a centre for people who have been popular and very successful before,” he said.
“A centre for them to have therapy… because it’s crazy being on top of the world and, the next moment, you’re not.
“Even in football, you win all these awards, the Champions League and the World Cup, and people still don’t feel like it’s enough.”
The singer added that he regularly prays for the wisdom to know when to step away from music at the peak of his career.
He emphasised the difficulty of maintaining public approval despite significant achievements.
“Like, look at Ronaldo. When he left the World Cup — he’s my friend, by the way — I remember being on the internet, and they were abusing him so much,” he said.
“After everything he has done. That’s my greatest fear. I worked too hard. I always ask God, ‘God, just tell me the right time to…’”
