The Anambra Government has revealed that the 10-year-old boy who was viciously abused by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, in the state’s Idemili North Local Government Area, is currently undergoing medical care while under state protection.
Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, the state commissioner for women’s affairs and social welfare, confirmed this to journalists in Awka on Monday.
“I want to thank the good caring people of Anambra for bringing this case to our notice.
“The boy is receiving treatment now. My team and the Obosi community woman leader visited him.
“The offenders must face the law for this barbaric act. If you see something, please say something,” she said.
A viral video of the minor was seen on social media with a scalded body, showing injuries on all parts of his body, allegedly inflicted on him by his guardians, a woman and her husband.
Although no justification was given for the abuse, a separate video on social media showed some locals of Awada Obosi storming the suspects’ home and criticizing them for allegedly abusing the boy.
