Real Madrid has been named the most valuable club in world football, with Barcelona leapfrogging Manchester United to second place.

According to Forbes’ annual list, Real Madrid is now worth $9.5 billion (£7.06 billion), up from £6.75 billion (£5.02 billion) a year earlier, with Barcelona second at $7.5 billion (£5.57 billion) and Manchester United third at $7.2 billion (£5.35 billion).

United’s income for the 2024-25 season was $865 million (£643 million), during which time the club placed 15th in the Premier League and fell in the Europa League final.

Six Premier League teams are ranked in the top ten, with eleven in the top thirty.

Liverpool, which won the English title in 2024-25, remains fourth with a value of $6.2 billion (£4.61 billion), while Manchester City falls from fifth to seventh at $5.5 billion (£4.09 billion).

Bayern Munich remains sixth ($5.7 billion, £4.24 billion), but 2024-25 European champions Paris St. Germain ($5.8 billion, £4.31 billion) rise from seventh to fifth.

Arsenal ($5.4 billion, £4.01 billion) is in eighth place, with Chelsea ($4.2 billion, £3.12 billion) in ninth and Tottenham ($3 billion, £2.23 billion) in tenth.

However, the Gunners could rise up the list next year after winning the Premier League for the first time in 22 years and facing PSG in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Despite Real Madrid and Barcelona earning the top two slots, Atletico Madrid is the only other La Liga club in the top 30 at 11th.

With 11 sides in the top 30, the Premier League is the most represented tournament. The list includes seven Major League Soccer teams, four from Italy’s Serie A, three from the German Bundesliga, and one each from France’s Ligue 1 and Portugal’s Primeira Liga.

The average value of the 30 teams is $2.9 billion (£2.15 billion), a 21% rise over 2025’s record of $2.4 billion (£1.78 billion).

The other Premier League teams in the top 30 are Aston Villa ($1.4 billion, £1.04 billion), Newcastle United ($1.25 billion, £935 million), Everton ($930 million, £692 million), Fulham ($920 million, £685 million), and Brighton ($910 million, £678 million).
