The United States (US) has issued a fresh warning to its citizens in the United Kingdom, urging heightened vigilance after Britain raised its terrorism threat level to “severe”.
The alert follows a decision by the UK Government to increase the threat level from “substantial”, signalling that an attack is now considered highly likely.
The move came after a stabbing in Golders Green, North London, where two Jewish men Shloime Rand and Moshe Shine were attacked in what authorities described as an antisemitic incident.
The Metropolitan Police classified the attack as terrorism, intensifying concerns over public safety.
Responding to the development, the US Embassy in the United Kingdom advised Americans to remain cautious, especially in crowded or high-profile locations.
“Stay alert in public places… keep a low profile and remain aware of your surroundings,” the embassy said, adding that citizens should vary travel routines and report suspicious activity.
UK Security Minister Dan Jarvis stressed that the threat level increase was not based on a single incident. Instead, it reflects a wider rise in extremist risks, including Islamist and far-right threats.
The warning underscores growing security concerns across the UK, with authorities closely monitoring developments and urging the public to stay vigilant.
