The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a review into a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorised access to parts of its information systems.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the commission confirmed that the incident affected only “limited aspects” of its digital infrastructure.

According to CAC, the breach was detected early, prompting an immediate activation of its internal response protocols to contain potential risks.

The commission said it is currently working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), alongside other relevant government agencies and partners, to determine the full scope and impact of the incident.

“CAC promptly activated its response protocols and is working with NITDA and other stakeholders to assess the situation,” the statement noted.

Authorities added that containment measures have already been implemented, while additional safeguards are being deployed to reinforce system security and prevent further vulnerabilities.

As investigations continue, CAC has urged users of its online portal to remain vigilant. Stakeholders are advised to monitor their records, update login credentials, and exercise caution when dealing with unsolicited communications.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity and security of its database, assuring the public that updates will be provided as more details emerge.

The development comes shortly after the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) launched a separate investigation into an alleged data breach involving Remita Payment Services Limited, Sterling Bank, and other entities earlier this month.
