The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Brigadier General Oseni O. Braimah, describing it as a painful loss to Edo State and the nation.
In a condolence message by his chief press secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor paid tribute to the late officer as a proud son of Edo State who gave his life in service to Nigeria.
He stated that Braimah’s courage and sense of duty stood out, noting that he remained committed to the peace and unity of the country until the very end.
Okpebholo described the fallen general as a symbol of sacrifice and dedication, adding that his service reflects the values of discipline and patriotism that the nation continues to rely on.
“This loss is not only felt by the Nigerian Army but also by Edo State and the country as a whole. While we mourn, we are also proud of the life he lived and the service he gave,” he said.
He expressed condolences to the late general’s family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all those in mourning, asking them to find comfort in the legacy he left behind.
The governor also asked for the serenity of his spirit and strength for those he had left behind.
“Rest on, brave son of Edo State. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
Chronicle NG reported that a late Wednesday attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, raised fears as some soldiers were allegedly killed. The attack targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai.
Residents stated that the terrorists stormed the base with heavy weapons and operated for hours, setting parts of the facility, including military vehicles, on fire.
The chairman of Kaga Local Government Area, Zanna Ajimi, told the press that the brigade commander, Brigadier General O. Braimah, was among those killed.
