The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has rescheduled examinations earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday following the attack on the Angwan Rukuba community in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the deputy registrar of information and public relations of the UNIJOS, Emmanuel Madugu.
“The vice chancellor has directed that all examinations scheduled to be held on Monday and Tuesday will be rescheduled.
“This is in view of the Sunday night attack by gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba and the consequential tensions it has generated in and around the area,” he said.
He asked workers and students to be attentive and prevent unnecessary movements.
Madugu also encouraged students to report any security breaches to the university’s security unit.
The development comes after Sunday’s attack on Angwan Rukuba, which the Plateau State government stated resulted in fatalities and injuries.
To restore peace, the state administration enforced a 48-hour curfew in the Jos North Local Administration Area.
