Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has confirmed that 8,453 delegates will take part in the upcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The two-day convention is scheduled for March 27 and 28 at Eagle Square, drawing party members from all six geopolitical zones.
Speaking during a world media briefing in Abuja, Idris said the large turnout reflects the party’s national reach and internal unity. According to him, the delegate list underscores the APC’s inclusiveness and organisational strength.
“We are expecting a total of 8,453 delegates from across the country. This clearly demonstrates the national spread, inclusiveness, and organisational strength of our great party,” he said.
The minister added that preparations have been finalised to accommodate all accredited delegates, assuring that no participant would be excluded. He noted that the party’s budget includes a flexible mechanism to cater for attendance.
Idris also highlighted the smooth movement of delegates and committee members nationwide, stating that no incidents have been recorded so far. He linked this to improvements in security and infrastructure across the country.
The convention is expected to reinforce the party’s commitment to national development under the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
To ensure adequate coverage, a dedicated media centre will be set up at the venue, with accreditation open to local and international media organisations.
Idris urged journalists to report responsibly, emphasising the importance of accurate and balanced coverage in the national interest.
