Abiodun Ayoyinka, the comic actor popularly known as Papa Ajasco, has appealed for financial assistance, just days after opening up about the professional and personal challenges he has faced in recent years.

The actor first shared his struggles over the weekend, revealing that he has been unable to commercially leverage the popular Papa Ajasco character because the rights are trademarked by producer Wale Adenuga.

According to Ayoyinka, the restriction has severely limited his opportunities outside the original show.

In a recent video shared on his new Instagram page, the actor made a direct appeal to the public for financial support. He provided his bank details, urging well-wishers to donate whatever they could.

“Da Silva, thank you very much. The account number is 0009562661, Stanbic Bank, and the name is Abiodun Ayoyinka. God bless all of you,” he said.

The video was later reposted by actress Liz Da Silva, who called on her followers to support the comic actor.

Da Silva encouraged the public to follow Ayoyinka’s Instagram page and contribute financially.

She also made a plea for anyone willing to help him acquire a better phone to create content for social media.

“He is saying thank you to everyone, pls know your support is needed, and also remember that you can help him further now and share his page,” she wrote.

“The phone that was used to create his account and videos is for his daughter @gadafitundeednut pls if you can help us post this man. I’m sure he and his family would be super grateful.”

Ayoyinka is renowned for his role in ‘Papa Ajasco & Company’, a TV series created by Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP).

The series is an offshoot of a film of the same name directed by Wale Adenuga and released in 1984.

During its peak, the comedy series was primarily regarded as Nigeria’s most popular TV programme.

It was shown every week in a total of twelve African nations.
