    President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners to various nations and the UN.

    Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced on Friday that 31 non-career and 34 career ambassadors had been appointed to their duty postings.

    The Senate confirmed all 65 nominees in December 2025 after the Committee on Foreign Affairs screened them.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been authorized to immediately begin an induction program for the envoys, who will take up their roles after gaining approval from their host nations.

    Onanuga mentioned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu and from France for Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

    Nominations for the remaining 62 envoys have been sent to their respective host countries for approval.
