    Olatunji Disu has officially assumed duty as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police (IGP), succeeding Kayode Egbetokun (Rtd) who served from 19th June 2023 to 24th February 2026.

    Born on 13th April 1966 in Lagos Island Local Government Area, Lagos State, Ag. IGP Disu brings decades of operational, investigative, intelligence, and administrative experience to the Force. His educational background includes MSc Entrepreneurship (NOUN, 2023), MSc Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology (LASU, 2022), Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Intelligence (UNILAG, 2019), MSc Public Administration (Adekunle Ajasin University, 2010), PGD International Relations and Strategic Studies (LASU, 2000), and BA English Education (LASU, 1990).

    He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 18th May 1992 and has served in numerous strategic roles, including:

    • Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Force HQ, Abuja
    • Commissioner of Police, FCT and Rivers State Police Commands
    • Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos (2015–2021)
    • Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping, Rivers State
    • Divisional Police Officer, Ondo State (2007–2013)
    • Tinubu decorates acting IGP Disu with new rank

    Disu also led the first Nigerian Police contingent to the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) in 2005. He is a member of prestigious bodies including the International Academy of Forensics, NAIS (USA), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and International Association of Chiefs of Police. A third-degree black belt in Judo, he has earned several national and international medals, including silver at the 2022 US Open Judo Championships.

    The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) extends appreciation to Egbetokun for his contributions to modernising and strengthening the Force. Disu has pledged to consolidate existing reforms, enhance internal security, strengthen community partnerships, and protect lives and property in line with global best practices.

    The Force calls on the public for continued support as it works to deepen professionalism, discipline, and service delivery under the new leadership.
