Nigeria upheld their flawless record at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 win against Uganda in their last Group C game at the Fez Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday.

Paul Onuachu netted the first goal in the 28th minute, finishing from short distance after connecting with a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to provide the Super Eagles with a well-deserved lead at halftime.

Nigeria controlled much of the initial phase, generating numerous opportunities, while Uganda found it difficult to handle the three-time champion’s speed and agility.

The Super Eagles increased their intensity following the break and doubled their lead in the 62nd minute.

Samuel Chukwueze played the ball into the area for Raphael Onyedika, who had a great first touch before smoothly placing the ball into the bottom left corner.

Five minutes later, Onyedika scored again, shooting into the bottom right corner from approximately 15 yards after receiving another Chukwueze cut-back during a quick attacking play with Onuachu.

Uganda, down to 10 players, got one back in the 75th minute when substitute Okello found Mato, who calmly lifted the ball over goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. Although a late goal was scored, a comeback was out of reach for the Cranes.

Nigeria’s victory secures first place in Group C with a full nine points, while Uganda concludes the group stage in last place and is eliminated from the tournament.
