The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) will provide free HIV testing services across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas from November 18th to December 1st, 2025.

This initiative aligns with LSACA’s commitment to improving access to HIV testing, early diagnosis, and care for residents.

On Tuesday, LSACA announced on its X account that the nationwide exercise is intended to overcome existing testing gaps while raising community awareness about HIV prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.

Trained counsellor-testers, enough testing kits, condoms, and Information, Education, and Communication materials have been deployed to guarantee a seamless implementation in all areas.

Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, emphasized the need for early testing in reaching the state’s public health goals.

“As we approach the 2025 World AIDS Day, our priority is to ensure that every resident of Lagos has the opportunity to know their HIV status in a safe, confidential, and accessible manner,” she said.

“Testing remains the gateway to prevention and treatment, and this statewide exercise underscores our commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of all Lagosians.”

Animashaun stated that LSACA collaborates closely with development partners and community-based organizations to target the most underserved communities.

She advised residents to go to specified testing locations in their LGAs and LCDAs to receive free, confidential services.

The LSACA CEO reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access, highlighting current initiatives to expand HIV testing and counseling centers and strengthen statewide awareness programs.

These activities are intended to prevent new infections and ensure that residents have access to critical preventive, testing, and treatment options.

The organization asked all Lagos residents to take advantage of the free screening program, emphasizing that knowing one’s status is a critical step in creating an HIV-free generation.

The LSACA is the coordinating body in charge of delivering HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care activities throughout Lagos State.

It was designed to help the state respond to the HIV epidemic.

The Agency collaborates with government departments, development partners, civil society organizations, and community structures to prevent new infections and enhance the quality of life for persons living with HIV.
