We are in a society where a negative attitude is easily passed off as “Oga is speaking”, in the name of constituted authority (Wike), and this has become a norm, and emboldens the actor.
Wike as a constituted authority, hurling insults at a national security officer should not be justified over a land matter he can always resolve smartly.
If Ghanaian or the United States’ constituted authority insults their officers, we shouldn’t celebrate this act in Nigeria.
For years, Wike never sees wrong in anything he does as a state governor, party chieftain, and other supposedly leadership capacities, but laughs it off with his poor speech, whistle blowing, or songs ” as e dey sweet us, e dey pain dem”. As a governor, he obstructed SSS operations, as Ex-governor he frustrated Fubara for selfish reasons, till a state of emergency was declared in Rivers, etc.
Wisdom would have stepped in but ego and arrogance swept Wike off his feet.
“Common” sense which isn’t common would have made him communicate with the ex-Naval chief before speaking with the officer as FCT minister over that land.
WIKE AS PRESIDENT TINUBU’S IMAGE
In a situation, where the confrontation is with an enemy of the country.
Wike shouldn’t have restricted his security detail from protecting him and his detail should have enforced the safety of their principal by doing their job against his will. It only signals dampened morale over a period of time.
THE NAVAL OFFICER
Only his superior officers answer directly to the presidency in our democratic settings.
I think his relationship with the presidency is indirect.
Should we have expected him to easily give way to the FCT minister on the landed property without a direct order from the ex-Naval chief?
His statement to that police officer was inappropriate as a security fellow in Esprit de corps.
At the end of the day, it has been turned into comic content to relieve stressed citizens of poor governance.
