Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, also known as Sammy West, has been released after being arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft in connection with a petition allegedly filed by the actress’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Daniels confirmed the development on her Instagram page on Tuesday, posting a video and expressing her joy at her brother’s release.
“And my brother is out. So, one battle down,” she said joyfully.
Chronicle NG had earlier reported that the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arraigned Ojeogwu before a court in Abuja following a petition received by the FCT Metro Area Command on October 28, 2025.
He was arraigned on November 6, 2025.
The Abuja Magistrate Court awarded Ojeogwu bail of ₦5 million on Monday, secured by a legal team led by human rights lawyer Marshal Abubakar, as reported by The Nigerian Lawyer.
The case was postponed until November 28 for a further hearing.
In the video, Daniels became upset as she pondered on the love and support she received while her brother was detained.
She said, “Guys, do you know it’s really such a big deal to be loved by a lot of people? Wait, can I brag about that? Can I actually brag that I’m loved by so many people?
“See, the kind of love I received this period makes me emotional. I feel good. I feel good. The joke’s on you, Ned, because you thought people would hate me.
“That’s something you all don’t know. I have my mothers, my fathers, my uncles, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, my fans, my online aunties and online daddies—everybody fighting for me.”
She later appreciated her fans and well-wishers for their solidarity.
“Thank you, guys. I can’t even start mentioning names,” she added.
A different video posted on Monday by activist Omoyele Sowore shows friends and supporters, including actress Mercy Johnson, celebrating Sammy West’s release.
The discovery comes amid rising tensions in Daniels’ marriage.
She recently broke down in a viral video over her brother’s arrest, stating tearfully, “I will go back,” and mourning her family’s plight.
Her outburst came after weeks of reporting about supposed marital problems with Nwoko, who has since refuted allegations of domestic violence, blaming her actions on claimed drug and alcohol misuse.
