President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the NINAuth app, a new digital verification tool designed to strengthen Nigeria’s national identity system and streamline data management across government institutions.

Speaking at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu said the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to build a credible, secure and verifiable identity system, describing it as vital to national development.

He announced that all ministries, departments and agencies will soon adopt the NINAuth app for both staff and citizen data verification. According to him, technology remains central to improving efficiency, transparency and accountability in governance.

“Today’s launch of the NIMC NINAuth app marks a milestone in our digital public infrastructure journey,” Tinubu said. “We are modernising digital systems to remove bottlenecks and ensure every Nigerian can access essential services without bureaucratic delays.”

The president noted that the app would position Nigeria among technologically advanced nations by enabling seamless, inclusive access to public and private services while safeguarding data privacy and national security.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace the technology, stressing that a credible identity system supports financial inclusion, social welfare, effective planning and internal security.

Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo said the initiative reflects Tinubu’s resolve to drive innovation in governance and national security.

Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), said the app will eliminate multiple data ownership and provide real-time verification for both government agencies and businesses. She revealed that NIMC has so far enrolled 126.7 million Nigerians, including 25 million in the past two years, and now handles about 1.3 million verification requests daily.
