President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of the recently appointed service chiefs.
The request made by Tinubu was contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the letter, the nominees are Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, and Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
After reading the letter, Akpabio instructed that the nominees be submitted to the Committee of the Whole for vetting and confirmation next week.
On Monday, the president met behind closed doors with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
