The Minister for Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has denied social media reports that he and the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, are at loggerheads.

Various allegations on social media from the duo’s admirers stated that its principals were in a cold war.

Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on Thursday at a free medical outreach in Ikare Akoko, the capital of the state’s Akoko North-East Local Government Area, dismissed the accusations as bogus social media conjecture.

The minister, who was represented by one of his aides, Mr. Bode Obanla, at the activity organized for residents of the Ondo North Senatorial District, remarked that his priority was to support projects that promote the president’s achievements.

Tunji-Ojo noted that his office in Abuja did not separate him from his home state.

He said, “Politics is local. My duty is to support any genuine group committed to promoting the good work of Mr. President.

“There is no fight between me and the governor. What matters is that we work together to project the achievements of Asiwaju,” he said.

Tunji-Ojo also explained that GMT was not an Ondo State-based organization but a nationwide movement with a track record of innovative programs, lauding the group’s grassroots initiatives, including medical outreach projects, and pledged continued support.

“At this point, any group mobilizing for Asiwaju is welcome. The GMT has shown commendable initiatives, and I will keep supporting efforts that take the message of the president to the grassroots,” he declared.

Earlier in the event, GMT Director General Mr. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye stated that the free medical outreach was targeting approximately 1,000 individuals per senatorial district and will expand to constituencies to broaden its reach.

He acknowledged Tunji-Ojo’s support so far for the group and assured him of further robust marketing endeavors for Tinubu.

“We know that health is wealth, and for us at GMT, we will continue to partner with the government, and we will continue to do it,” he said.

Earlier, elders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, under the auspices of the Ondo Mandate Elders Forum, denied rumors of a schism between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The elders, who met on Wednesday at the Akure home of the group’s chairman, Chief Erastus Alejo, said their primary goal was to unite the party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at the meeting, the group’s facilitator, Dr. Demola Ijabiyi, stated that the elders were unaware of any feud between the two party leaders.

He said, “We said we do not recognize any discord between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. The dispute is on social media due to the imagination of social media influencers.

“We did not say that we would reconcile them, as there is nothing on the ground to warrant reconciliation.”
Ijabiyi emphasized that the elders’ priority was to mobilize support to ensure President Bola Tinubu secures a landslide victory in 2027.
