Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s bid to return to the Red Chamber has hit another roadblock, as the National Assembly insists her suspension remains unresolved in court.

The Kogi Central lawmaker had written to the National Assembly, notifying that her six-month suspension, imposed on 6 March 2025, had expired.

But in a reply seen by Chronicle NG, the Clerk to the National Assembly said her suspension is still “sub judice” since the case is pending at the Court of Appeal.

Acting Clerk Yahaya Danzaria, in the letter, stated: “The matter therefore remains sub judice and until the judicial process is completed, and the Senate formally reviews the suspension in light of the court’s pronouncement, no administrative action can be taken by this office to facilitate your resumption. You will be duly notified of the Senate’s decision once it is resolved.”

Natasha had previously attempted to resume on 12 July after a Federal High Court ruling directed the Senate to review her suspension.

However, she was denied access to the National Assembly complex. Both the Senator and the Senate have since appealed parts of that judgment, leaving the case before the appellate court.

For now, Natasha’s return to the Senate chamber remains on hold until the judiciary gives the green light.
