A large gathering of Niger Delta youth leaders protested against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Towers in Abuja beginning at approximately 6 a.m.
On Wednesday, activists stopped the entrance and exit gates, causing considerable traffic problems along Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District.
According to Channels TV, the demonstrators are waving banners with bold writing and have demanded the resignation of NNPCL’s Group CEO, Bashir Ojulari, accusing him of corruption and mismanagement.
They also advocated for a Niger Delta indigene to be named the company’s new GCEO.
The protesters demanded the appointment of a Niger Delta indigene as the NNPCL’s GCEO.
Security agents, including Nigeria Police Force members, diverted traffic to one lane of the dual carriageway leading to the NNPCL towers.
Workers were forced to park far away from the Towers’ gates due to the protest.
