Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has announced an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state—from N20,000 to N30,000.

The governor made the declaration during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.

“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you.” Fintiri stated.

Fintiri said the raise is part of broader efforts to support youth development, including consistent food provision and other welfare initiatives. He also revealed that the state government was finalising plans to construct a new NYSC orientation camp, urging that corps members with relevant technical qualifications—such as architects, civil engineers, and quantity surveyors—be involved in supervising the project.

Welcoming the new corps members to Adamawa, the governor congratulated them and pledged continued government support.

“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” he said.

He underscored the orientation programme’s significance in equipping corps members for their national assignment.

The State Commissioner for Youths and NYSC Governing Board Chairman, Wali Yakubu, also addressed the corps members, urging them to take the orientation course seriously, obey camp regulations, and embrace skill acquisition for future self-reliance.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, praised the corps members for their discipline and engagement during the camp so far. She described the programme as well-structured to prepare them for impactful national service.

Osoro also commended Governor Fintiri for his unwavering support for the scheme.

She described him as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment in Nigeria.”

The event featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by Chief Judge of Adamawa, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and the ceremonial presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
