Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s new National Chairman, has committed to unifying the party’s organs and participants across the country.

Nentawe’s appointment was revealed during the ruling party’s NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

“I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party… I will expand the party with you,” said Nentawe in his acceptance speech.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has named the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Nentawe, as substantive national chairman of the party.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who leads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, announced the motion during the Committee’s 14th meeting, which is currently taking place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

The proposal was seconded by Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The minister was sworn in immediately afterward.

The Plateau State-born politician contested for the 2023 governorship election on the platform of the APC.

However, he lost to Caleb Mutfwang, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Nentawe’s emergence as the national chairman of the APC follows the resignation of the immediate past chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned his position on health grounds.
