The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its timetable for its activities ahead of the by-elections for vacant positions in the national and state houses of assembly.

In June, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed August 16 as the date for by-elections in 16 constituencies across 12 states.

In a recent statement, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said interested party members can obtain and return their completed forms at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.

The PDP pegged the expression of interest form for the senate at N500,000, while the nomination form cost N3 million.

For the house of representatives, the expression of interest form is also N500,000, with the nomination form fixed at N2 million.

For the state house of assembly, the expression of interest form costs N100,000, while the nomination form costs N500,000.

In the schedule of activities released by Umar Bature, the national organising secretary, the by-election primary process begins with the notice of primary election and congresses to the state chapter, scheduled for Wednesday, July 2.

Forms will be available for sale from July 3 to 10, and the last day to submit them at the party’s national secretariat is July 11.

Screening of aspirants will take place on July 15.

Ward congresses to elect 3-man ad-hoc ward delegates are scheduled for July 17, while local government congresses to elect one national delegate per LGA (where applicable) will occur on July 18.

Appeals for screening, ward, and LGA congresses will be addressed on July 19.

The party primary for candidate nomination is slated for July 21, with appeals to follow on July 22.

The last day to submit candidates’ names to the INEC nomination portal (electronic nomination) is July 25, and the submission of polling agents’ names to the electoral body must be completed by August 4.
