The Defence Headquarters has announced that its troops arrested four security personnel who were helping terrorist operations in the Northeast.

The suspects include two hybrid forces members who were operating with troops to battle the insurgency.

According to Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the hybrid forces were apprehended between April 26 and 29 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs.

He stated they were among the four terrorist logistics suppliers apprehended by the military.

Kangye voiced alarm about the treachery and urged commanders to sensitise their people against conduct that could disrupt ongoing military endeavours.

“In a well-coordinated operation conducted from 29 April 2025 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs of Borno and Adamawa States, troops intercepted four terrorists’ logistics suppliers. Sadly, two of them were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces.”

Commanders must consequently educate hybrid forces members to refrain from collaborating with or promoting terrorist acts capable of damaging our operations,” Kangye stated.

In another operation, Kangye stated that troops, in collaboration with hybrid forces, conducted offensive operations like fighting patrols, raids, and clearance missions in Gwoza, Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, Gujba, Geidam, and Yunusari LGAs.

He further stated that three terrorists were killed during the raids, six abducted victims were rescued, and caches of weapons, ammo, motorcycles, and bicycles were discovered.

In the South-South, Kangye stated that troops had also made great progress in combating oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta.

He stated that they recovered approximately 86,000 litres of stolen crude oil, 72,000 litres of unlawfully refined diesel, and over 2,600 litres of petrol.

In addition, troops destroyed dozens of illegal refining facilities and seized boats, storage tanks, tricycles, mobile phones, and seven vehicles.
