Former Nigerian Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has reaffirmed the vital importance of deepening Africa’s partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), following a strategic meeting with key OECD officials.

Osinbajo met with Mr Carlos Conde, Head of Africa and the Middle East Division at the OECD, and Mr Alin Horj, Economist and Project Manager for the Africa-OECD Partnership, to discuss strengthening economic integration and cooperation across the continent.

During the discussions, both sides underscored the growing need for collaborative frameworks that promote inclusive growth, sustainable development, and expanded trade opportunities between African nations and OECD member states.

“It was a real pleasure to engage with Mr Conde and Mr Horj on the critical role Africa-OECD partnerships can play in shaping the future of economic development across the continent,” Osinbajo said. “We explored practical avenues for advancing economic integration and charting new paths for deeper, mutually beneficial engagement.”

Plans are already underway to intensify collaboration with individual African countries, ensuring that the benefits of partnership extend across a broader spectrum of economies and communities. The meeting marks another step forward in Africa’s quest for stronger international alliances that drive prosperity, innovation, and resilience.

    • Osinbajo says civil service crucial for national development

The Africa-OECD Partnership has been instrumental in fostering dialogue and shaping policy recommendations that support inclusive economic growth, a goal Osinbajo continues to champion both at home and on the global stage.
